I love seeing clever uses for recycled items. Some of the costumes and props I've seen at Destination Imagination tournaments fit into this category – I still vividly recall a fish skeleton created from wine corks and bottle caps.
Patrick Amiot, a folk artist from my home town, takes creative recycling to new heights. His sculptures feature junkyard materials like tin can lids, gas cans, barbeques, and bike chains. If you're looking for some inspiration (or just want to be amazed), take a peek here.
The image you see here is the cover of the Folk Art for Schools calendar. Look closely – the headlights are made from flashlights, the carrot tops are leaf rakes and the green onions are fashioned from an oar. Amazing.
