She's right. Just because I would solve a dilemma one way, doesn't mean it's the ONLY way. Learning this as a team manager is oh so important. MY ideas for a successful solution are just that - my ideas. Trying to sway groups to solve a challenge in the manner that I think best is counter productive. Teams will only learn to think creatively when they are given a chance to explore all of the options. Not every option will work - and that's okay. But through experimentation free of interference, they discover two things; one, a particular idea may not work, and two, with a leader who gives them the opportunity to explore, they can test options until they have a successful solution.
