Innovation at 3M

How many times have you needed to highlight an item in a library book? Or your own that you didn't want to mar? Personally, I have a very hard time writing in books.

The creative people at 3M have come up with a solution by combining two popular office tools - the highlighter pen and Post It Notes. They've created Post It Highlighting Strips.

This is a good reminder that it's not necessary to come up with an absolutely new idea in order to be creative or innovative. Developing a new way to use an old item works, too. Maybe the extra tape dispenser you have in your office can work as a postage stamp dispenser. Perhaps your broken ladder can stand in as a funky towel rack. And we all know that a ruler can stand in as a postal scale, right?
